just rang An Bord Pleanala with regard to an appeal that's been in since March (their mandate is 16 weeks remember) to be told it's put back again because of a "huge backlog of cases". I'm not sure I adequately covered up my guffaw.

The 'reason' being that replacement Bórd members were not appointed to their post for 6 months after the previous ones were let go, my informant tells me.
To save on salaries for that fiscal year.
Hence the backlog.
