The Monument Creameries

I am looking for any old photographs of a chain of shops known as The Monument Creameries. There were 33 shops in total throughout Dublin, two bakeries and two cafes. The business was set up by Seamus and Agnes Ryan in 1919 opposite the Parnell Monument (hence the name) and they were put into voluntary liquidation in 1966 when Agnes retired. The buildings were quite distinctive in so far that the front was in dark grey / black marble (25 Lower Camden Street which is now part of Listons is a good example, see small image

I know where some of the stores and cafes were located and what they are today.

25 Lower Camden Street (Now Listons Food Store)
39 Grafton Steet (now the Burger King opposite HMV)
46 Upper Baggot Street (Now Langkawi Asian Restaurant)
O'Connell Street (where Dr Quirkies Good Time Emporium was)
Parnell Street (Corner of O'Connell Street opposite Parnell Monument)
Upper Kilmacud Road
Henry Street

If you have any old photographs of the monument either inside or out, or if you know of other store locations and what they are today - please let me know.

Re: The Monument Creameries

I have one photo of a Monument Creamery Shop. I'm not sure where this one is and when the photo was taken. But if anyone recognises the building I would be delighted to know.

Lovely tasteful shopfront there - had always wondered what went with this...
