"Though he has become known as one of the most uniquely "American" architects working today, Gehry was raised in Toronto, Canada and, at the age of seventeen, moved with his family to Los Angeles. He received his Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Southern California, and studied City Planning at Harvard University's Graduate School of Design. "

Do Canadian architects see Gehry as one of their own, or as an American?

He's the Barry McGuigan of the architecture world. CBC occasionally refers to him as "Toronto architect Frank Gehry" in relation to the AGO extension, but the man himself is a naturalised Yank iirc.

As ever, Googlefight (http://www.googlefight.com/cgi-bin/compare.pl?q1=frank+gehry+is+american&q2=frank+gehry+is+canadian&B1=Make+a+fight%21&compare=1&langue=us) is the ultimate arbiter.
