So what do you think?

Left is the current one - right is the suggestion.

It's too complex. If you were trying to draw it yourself, you'd never be able to remember it. The design itself is quite nice but only in a design sense. There's an old saying about African countries that the more gaudy the flag, the more corrupt they are. And this one would be the most colourful flag in the world. It's not a realistic proposition. Apparently, Rem Koolhaas has another one in the bag which is only a variation on the stars on blue banner, and I'm sure it will end up being used instead.

Koolhaus has done it again. The modern world of shopping made intellectually critical. Europe as a bar code, the world reduced to a set of "colourful" digital bands. Perhaspwe can be tatooed with the new flag. Architectural fashion is fashionable architecture and given that we are revisiting 1960's values it is perhaps appropriate that we have a Mary Quant lifestyle image for the nature of unity. The ideals of Europe are being washed white with this washboard of graphic dexterity

It looks like a nice Paul Smith shirt. The 'story' of this being the new flag has been widely discredited.

what?

dont know if this is old news but just came accross this proposed design for a new EU flag. its by rem koolhaus and displays each countries flag coulours in bands next to each other.looks like a barcode, a lot better than the naff looking stars on a blue bakground if you ask me.
what do others think, too cool perhaps?

Perhaps the Germans have got a new beach towel design!

Rubbish - give me the stars anyday - it's a good recognisable logo. This is nonsense (and it aint cool either)

Looks a bit like those images which used to come on the television screen during the eighties when RTE or BBC were not showing any tv programs. Other things which come to mind are a packet of refresher sweets. With that said though, I think I would need to see it as an actual flag to pass my final judgement on it.

Seen that b4... Don't think it was ever a runner of an idea (hopefully) - the EU flag is going to be locked in as is from now on - don't think there's going to be 30odd stars in a circle...

Number of stars is to remain as it is at present.

I prefer the existing one, along with the Canadian flag it has an excellent simplicity in its choice of Colours.

Cool-Asses flag would be a nightmare to manufacture and I can imagine terrible arguments over who got the centre colours.
